About
Multi-Instrumentalist/Vocalist/Songwriter Jasper “The Jazzmaster” Myers is a Chicago native. He grew up
listening to the sanguine sounds of Marvin Gaye, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, George Benson, Norman Brown, Donald Byrd, The Blackbyrds, Stevie Wonder, Wes Montgomery, The Jazz Crusaders courtesy of his father's record collection. Not to be outdone his mother infused his soul with James Brown, The Stylistics, Motown, Luther Vandross, and Diana Ross and the Supremes. As Jasper got older, he got into his own style and favorites with music such as smooth/contemporary jazz, Avant Garde, Straight Ahead Jazz, RnB, Soul, Neo-Soul, Hip-Hop/Rap, Gospel, House, Dance, 70's, 80's, 90's, Classical, Country, World, Bossa Nova, Adult/Alternative, Americana, etc... All of the aforementioned genre's of music have helped to shape and inform his sound.
At age 4, Jasper was completely taken by Paul Hardcastle’s
‘Rainforest’ track--this connectivity and inspiration to the sublime sounds of Hardcastle has remained since. Four years later Jasper began piano and organ lessons and well, his music-making journey grew wings.
He went from crafting songs on an old beat up Casio as a teen-ager to directing bands, has produced countless local artist, and has worked with some record industry musicians as well. He has two previous highly original albums called "The Acoustic Album" and "The Next Stop Will Be" that were released on street level that were out prior to recording Jazzolosophy in early 2012. Jasper is a multi instrumentalist who plays different instruments such as piano, keyboards, synthesizer, guitar, and is also a music producer and creator. Jasper wants to continue to learn different instruments to bring a whole new and different sound to his projects and albums from here on out.
The Jazzmaster, Jasper Myers dropped his first full length recording in July 2015 called “Jazzolosophy”, an instrumental fusion jazz record, that saw Jasper wearing many hats on that record. In March 2019 he put out aN RnB/Neo-Soul record called “Guilty Pleasures” a very strong and solid mellifluous record. Currently The Jazzmaster is working HARD on more records to put out. “Harmonious” which will drop in 2020, and he also wants to put out a double disc record which is untitled at this point, but the first disc will be a all Hip-Hop record, and the second disc will venture off into Classic Rock.
When it comes to music, there are few boundaries with Jasper; he knows
sound architecture but breaks it with cross-genre pollination, unique melodies,
deep registering and key changes, and rhythms with progressive syncopation;
his goal to bridge gaps in music and continue to pump out that cool fusion
sound ~
